  29. RAINBOW version 1.2 was programmed in 100% assembler by
  30. Rasmus Söderberg and Mandus Söderberg.

  32. The example pictures (*.TIF , compressed 24bit tiff) were drawn entirely
  33. using RAINBOW by
  34. Rasmus Söderberg.

  36. The manual for RAINBOW version 1.0 was written by

  44. RAINBOW is an art package especially written for the powerful true colour
  45. mode on the Atari Falcon 030┐. The program is aimed at all graphic artists
  46. who need a quick and effective art package to produce true colour (65536
  47. colours) pictures for games, demos, utilities or private use.
  48.  
  49. The program runs from either floppy or harddisk, and you don't have to
  50. change colour mode or resolution from the desktop, since RAINBOW
  51. automatically changes that (needless to say it also returns to the old
  52. desktop settings when you quit).

  54. RAINBOW only works with Falcon 030┐.

  57. Since this is a demo version, you won't get a manual. Therefore you will
  58. have to guess how RAINBOW works (of course you'll get a manual when you buy
  59. the commercial version, where you also can save your pictures...), but at
  60. least we're able to reveal the following "hints":
  61.  
  62. You click on different functions with the left mouse button in order to
  63. activate them.
  64. But if you want to adjust the function's settings, you'll have to press
  65. the right button. Then a menu box appears where you can make some choices
  66. for that function. A "+" on any of the choice line means that there is a
  67. sub menu box that can be reached by pressing the right button on it.
  68.  
  69. Choice of colour is made using the "colour bars", the "hotkey palette" or
  70. preferably the "quick choice palette", which can be altered by changing the
  71. colour in any of its "corner boxes".
  72. Note that RAINBOW uses 16 bit true colour (many other programs that work in
  73. true colour use in fact only 15 bits, resulting in half as many shades of
  74. green wich gives you only 32768 colours instead of 65536).

  76. Press the right button on "rgb" or "vga" in order to change the frequency
  77. and overscan (default is no overscan).
  78. WARNING! (in the "vga" menu) Do not set the vertical frequency to 76Hz or
  79. 54Hz without knowing for sure that your monitor can handle it (consult your
  80. monitor manual).
  81. If you happen to set a mode that your monitor can't handle, you may restore
  82. the default monitor settings by pressing the key 'help'.

  84. RAINBOW 1.2 can manage to load *.TIF, *.TGA, *.TPI, *.NEO, *.PI? and *.PC?.
  85. Default is *.*, but if you want to load a specific format (i.e. if you want
  86. to load a TGA file called "PICTURE.GFX") you may press the right button
  87. (instead of the left) on "load" to enter the load menu.

  89. If you want to enter the built-in photo studio just click on the yellow
  90. "go to another studio" box and change to "photo studio".
